Review: Minus 417 Aromatic Body Peeling Scrub

So a few months ago I was patronising JEM with my guy and we walked past the -417 cosmestic booth.

The korean sales girl approached us and yeah we got pretty much pressured into buying this by their good sales pitch?? spent like $280 on 4 products which is PRETTY EXPENSIVE by my standards.

Hell, who would pay that sort of price for a body scrub, body butter and 2 facial exfoliating scrubs tbh.

I was taken by the properties of this body scrub uh firstly,
  • It's mineral oil free. No idea what it does but hado labo products also have this property
  • Apparently it can last me a year if I use one tablespoon weekly
  • Dead sea salt?? Apparently the salt is good for your skin.
So here's the actual product. There's plenty of product inside this humble packaging.
It's possible for it to last a year lol

The recommended amount for a whole body scrub.

Also, it was told to me that I could use this for a home spa treatment to exfoliate my dead skin cells to make it smooth and silkier
Testing it on my hand because hell would I show me using it on my whole body for a review

Here's my hand after I scrubbed my hand using the product.

My verdict: It left my hand feeling like a fish (think: the slippery texture) and it definitely did its job. Although, I think that the silkiness is by some kind of oil in the product itself.

However, I would never buy this again. It's a rip-off of my money T__T I can get it off the shelves at other beauty stores for a much cheaper price.
The product costs $100++ but I bought it on a promotion for $140 with the body butter (it's shitty but it smells good, and it is absorbed better if you exfoliate your skin before application). It is still not worth it but it's entirely up to your preference if you feel like trying this out ~v~

I also bought the Micro-Luffa Scrub which I would do a proper review of if I'm feeling less lazy. The shop assistant recommended me that as I told her I'm a lazy person and the product is does many things in one go.

(a.k.a. removing the oil in my face, opening up my pores and exfoliating them, and then closing my pores to prevent oil secretion for the rest of the day)

It costs $70 each after she gave us discounts (special rate for us as students lulz) but I really feel that it's a normal product you can get off the shelf easily. If you need a facial scrub I recommend garniers (sold at watsons or 7 eleven) for like $2 each for 50ml which is super cheap and lasts quite a while.

Basically any products which are cheap and good are the best and you should only splurge on supposedly more high-end and effective products if you can afford it.

Peace out,
Tiffeng

  1. I was at ION when they suddenly grabbed me and tried to sell me products… and I fell for their hard marketing. It seems like they mark up the prices like crazy and then discounts them. And they persuade you to buy things little by little so that you won’t realize that you have spent a big amount. For me, the sales marketer first promoted the body peeling and body butter, and after i made payment, she offered the facial wash and cleansing gel, and after i made payment, she offered the cinderella lifting mask, and after i made payment, the vitamin moisturiser and mud beauty mask. The sales marketer I was talking to seems very nice, saying that she is selling it to me without taking any commission at all. Afterwards, I went to qoo10 to check, and to my horror, the prices are much cheaper there. Here are the list of things I bought, compared with the qoo10 cheapest price. Same size, same product.

Product Name - Aromatic Body Peeling
Price bought - 70(1 for 1 with the lotion)
    Cheapest Price at qoo10 - 62.97

    Aromatic Body Butter
    70
    60

Luffa facial wash (the green bottle in the review)
60(1 for 1 with cleansing gel)
    60

    Cleansing gel
    60
    48.86

    Cinderella Lifting Mask
    168
64 (This pains my heart so much)

    Vitamin Moisturizer
    40
    70.10

    Mud Beauty Mask
    42.50
    56.02

    Total
    510.5
    421.95

After I finished purchasing all this, I was offered this Miracle Wrinkle Filler thing. They said that it is a full treatment to replenish the collagen in your face, so you have to buy 4 boxes of Miracle Wrinkle Filler for $480 and the two boxes of Serum for $300 smth for 1 year supply. So the total should be 2600 smth, but I have no idea how she calculate everything, in the end she said i can get all that for $1400, then she threw in another Cinderella Lifting Mask that cost $280, Body Butter $120, and VIP Facial for $180. Seems like a good deal isn’t it? She was sooooooooo persistent, but luckily i quickly escaped. And when I checked the price at qoo10, wheeeewwww. The Miracle Wrinkle Filler was only sold for $114. Seriously, what the f?! So yeah, guys, please BEWARE OF -417 HARD MARKETING!!!!

    1. A fellow victim! I was at their outlet in Waterway Point and fell victim into their hard selling tactics. They managed to rip off $4000 off me and now I'm in the process of demanding a full refund. The staff there will do anything to make sure that you stay and push useless products into your face claiming that you need them. I'm in my early twenties and I don't need wrinkle fillers for goodness sake. Not only is my face in a very bad condition after using their products, I'm left with so much remorse and guilt after being scammed. The sales person were all exceptionally nice but in actual fact, there are all vultures watching over last breaths. This should be brought up cos they are actually selling misrepresented products (the entire shop space had Black Pearl pasted all over it) under unfair hard selling tactics. Who knows how many more victims there are or yet to be?

  2. Yup. I think singapore should ban this kind of Dead Sea branded cosmetics from entering the country. I've experienced three Dead Sea branded skin care brands over the years and they have the exact same marketing strategy. I can't help to think that all these are under the same label but just trying to cheat customers and customs. All these Isareal origined skincare products should be more carefully examined
